Why the count stops matching
A round is written as shorthand — (sc 2, inc) x6 (24) — and the number in brackets is the pattern’s promise about where you should end up. Two things can go wrong. You miscounted, which happens to everyone and is fixable. Or the pattern is wrong, which no amount of recounting will fix.
Telling those apart is arithmetic, not skill: write out every repeat, add up what each round takes and leaves, and see whether one round ends where the next one begins. That is all this page does. If round 11 leaves 42 stitches and round 12 asks for 36, the gap is the pattern’s — and you now have a sentence you can send to whoever sold it to you.
It reads rounds and rows, expands (…) x6, […] *6, Rounds 7-12 and repeat rounds 4-9 three times, and understands sc, hdc, dc, tr, sl st, ch, inc and dec in US terms. Charts, photo tutorials and video are not written patterns, so it cannot read those.

Where this stands
This is the free part, and it stays free: paste a pattern, get the verdict, work the rounds with your place held on this device. What is still being built is the part that takes the pattern as you actually own it — a PDF, photos of a book page, a link — reads the pages, and keeps every checked pattern on a shelf that follows you between your phone and your sofa.
